(08) Discovering Your Most Profitable Organic Keywords
You can utilize your GA4 data to uncover your most profitable organic keywords. Back in 2011, Google removed organic keyword data from Google Analytics, a significant loss for webmasters. Unfortunately, this feature doesn't exist in GA4 either. Consequently, identifying which keywords are driving conversions on your site using purchase data in Google Search Console isn't feasible. However, there's a workaround within Google Analytics that can address this limitation.
Firstly, ensure you have a GA4 property linked with Google Search Console, though it's not mandatory for this analysis. When accessing the Google Search Console reports, you'll observe that the search query data lacks conversion details. This data, imported from Google Search Console, remains separate from Google Analytics and doesn't incorporate conversion metrics, even with attempted edits.
The alternative lies in the acquisition section of Google Analytics. Navigate to the acquisition tab, select traffic acquisition, and filter the report to display only organic traffic from Google. Then, include a secondary dimension of landing page. This will furnish a report showcasing organic traffic alongside corresponding landing pages, akin to Search Console's report, but accessible even without Search Console access.
Shift your attention to conversions and pinpoint the landing pages driving the most conversions. Further analysis can be done in Google Search Console by identifying the specific pages resulting in conversions. Delve into the performance reports and navigate to the pages section, identifying the page(s) driving sales according to your Google Analytics data.
Although you can't access the exact queries leading to purchases, analyzing the list of search terms or keywords associated with those pages offers insight into their purchasing impact. This manual integration of data from Google Search Console and Google Analytics demands some effort but yields valuable insights into the search terms driving purchases and the most successful pages.
