(12) Bonus: Setting Up Alerts

Here's a bonus tip regarding setting up alerts. While the analysis methods we've discussed may not be part of your daily routine, you can use alerts to keep track of specific metrics and receive automatic notifications about significant changes. Let's navigate to the homepage of our demo property to configure an alert.

Once on the homepage, locate the insights and recommendations section and click on the "C suggested insights" button to access custom insights. In the custom insights section, you'll find options to either utilize pre-suggested insights or create your own from scratch. While you can enable all suggested insights, let's focus on creating a new one.

Click on "create new" to get started. Begin by specifying how frequently you want to receive this alert. Then, select the segment you wish to monitor, whether it's "all users" or a specific segment of your audience. Next, choose the metric you want to track. For instance, let's monitor the total number of users over the last seven days. Set the condition to detect a percent change of more than 50%, indicating a significant spike compared to the previous week. Ensure the conditions align with your objectives to avoid unnecessary notifications.

Provide a name for your alert and select your preferred method of receiving notifications, such as email notifications. Once all details are filled in, click on "create." You can manage your alerts by accessing the "manage" option, where you can view, edit, or delete alerts as needed. Feel free to set up additional alerts based on your requirements.

With alerts in place, you can effortlessly stay informed about important changes in your metrics, eliminating the need for manual daily checks of your reports.
